HURON CITY SCHOOL’S CHILD NUTRITION PROGRAM
Nothing compares to family meals, but the Huron City Schools Food Service Department works hard to encourage nutritious meals away from home. In March 2006, the program was audited by the Department of Safety, Health and Nutrition and commended for “dedication and success in providing a quality nutrition program that meets National School Lunch Program requirements and is customized to meet students preferences.” Our goal is to encourage every child to enjoy high quality, nutritious meals served with a smile. Did you know that every lunch we serve meets 1/3 of the Recommended Daily Allowances set by the health professionals on the national level? We will constantly be experimenting with new items that students should find fun and nutritious and continuing our emphasis on introducing more fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Menus are sent home monthly and are posted on the district web site.
Computerized Meals System
Our schools have had a computerized meal system for 8 years now. Pre-paying helps the students avoid losing their money on the way to school and assures where dollars are spent. Meal prepayments do not expire and they also carry over from year to year or school to school. You may send a check with your child to school for any amount. All checks must be made payable to their schools cafeteria. Please write your child’s name in the memo portion of the check. Please send separate checks for each student other than if they are in the same building. A new online payment system was installed last spring. Please check the web site for information on this service. Please contact the cafeteria cashier if you need specific information or have concerns about a students account. We started a finger imagining system at the high school last spring and will be starting the same process at the junior high this fall. With this system there will be no cards to remember or pin numbers to type in allowing a faster, smoother lunch line and more time for students to enjoy their lunch and free time with friends. EZ-Payhttp://www.spsezpayhurontigers.com Click Here for instructions on using EZ-Pay for Lunch Balances Huron City Schools now offers an online lunch payment program called "EZ-Pay." You will now be able to pay for your children's lunches online by using any Visa or Mastercard (including Debit Visa and Mastercard), and monitor their current lunch account balance. You may still continue to send checks to the school, if you prefer; this is simply a new convenience for parents with children in the district. The instructions for using the program are listed above. If you have any further questions, you may email Gary Larizza or Sue Whitaker by clicking on their names. |
